William asked his Grandma how old she was. Rather than giving him a straight answer, she replied:
"I have 6 children, and there are 3 years between each one and the next. I had my first child (your Uncle John) when I was 20. Now the youngest one (your Auntie Mary) is 20 herself. That's all I'm telling you!"

Kia Stinger voted The West Australian’s Car of the Year
Sam Jeremic Saturday, 16 December 2017 2:00AM
There was a time not too long ago when Korean cars were seen in a decidedly negative light: cheap, unsafe, unreliable and undesirable.
But how things have changed.
Both Kia and Hyundai are in the top 10 selling brands in the country so far this year.
The Hyundai i30 is one of the biggest-selling vehicles in the land, with this year’s all-new version universally praised, while the Kia Stinger was so good we’ve named it The West Australian’s Car of the Year.
Perceptions of the brands changed over the past 20 or so years, with ... [more]

Educators knew more cuts to public schools and support services were inevitable.
But the scale of the $64 million in savings announced yesterday has taken many by surprise.
The question is whether Education Minister Sue Ellery has simply chosen some low-hanging fruit to please the bean counters and get them off her back, or has she picked programs in need of trimming?
There is no doubt that many of the services under the axe are hugely important to the people directly affected. Services such as all five Schools of the Air, seen as vital by parents already battling tough conditions in the outback.
While the minister denies country students have been targeted, the State’s most isolated students will be among those worst affected, wit ... [more]

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull criticised for being condescending on Q&A.
MALCOLM Turnbull’s appearance on Q&A last night has backfired badly, with the prime minister accused of bullying and patronising members of the audience.
Mr Turnbull was once beloved for his leather-jacket clad appearances on the panel show and was expected to breeze through the evening after delivering same-sex marriage, but the Prime Minister was surprisingly combative with questioners and even sighed loudly at one member of the public.

Sam Dastyari resigns from Parliament, says he is 'detracting from Labor's mission' amid questions over Chinese links
Labor senator Sam Dastyari has said he will not return to the Senate next year, amid questions over his links to China.
"Today, after much reflection, I've decided that the best service I can render to the federal parliamentary Labor Party is to not return to the Senate in 2018," he told reporters at a media conference in Sydney today.
"I've been guided by my Labor values, which tell me that I should leave if my ongoing presence detracts from the pursuit of Labor's mission. "It is evident to me we are at that point, so I will spare the party any further distraction."

Arty-looking dishes were made of household products like bleach tablets and shaving cream.
London’s top restaurant The Shed at Dulwich has one problem: it’s a TripAdvisor fake.
It was a unique restaurant in London and certainly the hardest to get into. And it beat out thousands of upscale restaurants in the city to earn the top ranking on the popular review site TripAdvisor for a time, drawing a flood of interest. There was just one small problem: It didn’t exist.
