Margaret Court protest: Activists block Liberal Party fundraiser ahead of keynote speech

Protesters have blocked the front of Liberal Party fundraiser where Margaret Court was attending as a guest speaker.

A crowd of about 50 activists are out the front of the function on Collins St, Melbourne City with attendees understood to have arrived from another entrance at the back of the building.

“Margaret Court you’ve lost the set, your bigotry can’t clear the net,” the crowd chanted about 5.30pm as guests started to arrive.

Equal Love campaign manager Anthony Wallace said he was shocked to see Ms Court invited to the event after her controversial comments about the LGBTIQ community.
.
“The Liberal Party had the chance to remove her from their speaking list, instead they made her a VIP guest,” he said.

“She’s drawn some horrible comparisons.

“This falls on Turnbull’s head. Turnbull is the most inactive Prime Minister we’ve seen since the campaign for marriage equality started.”

Mr Wallace said major banks and airlines had turned away from Ms Court after her comments.

“Margaret Court you’re really out there alone,” he said.

“We’ll try to fight every way possible so that we are seen and heard.

“They should hang their head in shame for allowing this speaker to be a guest at one of their official functions.”

We live in a supposedly democratic society where our citizens should have freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, freedom of religion and freedom of movement.

These protesters wish to deny a fellow Australian these democratic freedoms.

I wonder to what extent this was politically motivated. Would these activists have blocked access to a Labor or Greens fundraiser if a keynote speaker expressed views contrary to their own? I think not!

Spot on Charles.

The hypocrisy of the progressive left at work yet again.

Sadly it seems to have worked very well for them in recent decades. http://fairdinkumnewschat.b1.jcink.com/uploads/fairdinkumnewschat/smiley_don_t_know.gif

It seems to me that social media is leading the charge, and we know that anyone who bucks the latest PC ideology will be isolated by those who fear non-acceptance by the rest of the lemmings. Jobs can be lost, friends and family denigrate and bully, no freedom of thought or speech are permitted in the rarified air of modern thought, it is only the uneducated and old who rebel against the virtue signalling culture we have today.
