QUOTE (Bear @ Dec 10 2017, 05:33 PM)
My God is your God Bill, he is 'just' - definitely not 'vengeful'.

Many who have never had any faith change their mind in their later years, it is never too late to repent your sins, learn to forgive others, and you will be forgiven.

I have no doubt that you are a good man Bill, just because we don't always agree on all things makes no difference, after all variation is natural, and it would be too boring for God if we were all the same.

"Any other issues are 'discrimination' or 'education' issues, and will be properly addressed in Phillip Ruddick's review in March 2018 scepo."

So long as religious freedoms are also protected then I will be happy, and I am sure that our God will be too.

Take care Bill.

Hi Bear

You still don't understand atheists, except from your own belief perspective maaate..

Your God is not my God - I don't have one.

Atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist - it's not a belief system.

I'm fine with the proposition that some people have a need to believe in a deity. but I don't feel the need to defend a 'non-belief.

I have no doubt that some people turn to faith as they come to terms with their own mortality as you describe, but to assume that is the 'norm' is not correct. There are many atheists who never made the switch in their later years.

I'm grateful that you never offered to pray for me Bear. The comeback would be just as offensive.

Re: Ruddick's Review. There are some aspects of religious freedom etc. that are already covered by discrimination laws throughout Australia. Because they are State based laws, Ruddick will be looking to bring them into line as well as ensure that religious freedom is protected - at least that's the hope.

Take care Bear.

Well.....the sky didn't fall in this morning, and it probably won't tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that.

What a brilliant comment to make.

As if anyone at all claimed that it would.

No comment though on any of the real issues raised.

The only issue that needed to be raised was in the question put in the 'survey'.

"Should the Marriage Act be changed to allow same sex couples to marry".

Any other issues are 'discrimination' or 'education' issues, and will be properly addressed in Phillip Ruddick's review in March 2018 scepo.

Don't worry Bill I am used to people throwing out red herrings, dancing around, and avoiding the real issues.

I respect your view Bill - when the time comes, I hope the truth doesn't scare you too much.
