‘Absolute scum’ steal from Eaton-Australind volunteer firefighters during Augusta blaze
The West Australian

Heartless thieves have broken into a volunteer fire and rescue station while firefighters were out saving homes in Augusta.
The Eaton-Australind Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service confirmed their station was broken into in the early hours of Tuesday morning, with the callous thieves then returning hours later to collect “their night’s work”.
Eaton-Australind Fire and Rescue captain Richard Constantine labelled the thieves “absolute scum”.
“The brigade is all gutted,” he said.
“It’s a big inconvenience to us and the community.
“I hope (the thieves) don’t need our help one day.”
Security cameras captured the thieves arriving about 5.45am on Tuesday morning, and they spent 45 minutes inside the station.
Do you recognise this vehicle?
The station utility and control vehicle was trashed while ‘Freddy the fire engine’ — which is used to promote fire safety in the community for children — was ruined.
The brazen thieves then returned around 7.30am and stole emergency LED lights, fire radios, child-size homemade fire tunics, little breathing apparatus sets and a brand new 60L fridge.
The thieves returned to the station in a champagne or gold-coloured VT/VY Holden Commodore sedan with BY numberplates.
Cpt Constantine said one of his colleagues followed the group a “short way up the road” when the vehicle left the scene, but lost sight of the car.
“We were close to catching them ourselves,” he said.
“It’s extremely brazen to return during the daytime when we have security cameras of them and footage.”
Anyone with information on the break in and theft should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report it online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au
Calling them "scum" is an apt description of these low-life. Catch them and give the local Charkas a few minutes with them!

Public floggings would be an apt punishment.
